Cardio tennis is an excellent way to get fit, have fun and improve your tennis! In one hour of a healthy workout, you can generate amazing results. It is similar to interval training, which is periods of high intensity followed by short periods of rest and it is believed that interval training is the best way to train for optimal health and fitness. During a one-hour cardio session:
- participants consistently elevate their heart rates into their aerobic training zone.
- participants can burn more calories than they would during singles or doubles tennis.
If you are possibly put off by the mention of heart rates and burning calories, don’t be, as it’s so much fun you won’t be aware of all the hard work your body is doing!
KBTC ran several cardio training sessions facilitated by Rhona Byrne over the last few years and recently Wesley O’Brien has been running tennis bootcamps with that same mix of cardio exercise and tennis strokes.
