General Information about Junior Coaching

Junior coaching caters for ages 6-18 years and the terms are usually spring, summer and autumn and can range from 6-8 weeks in duration.  Juniors are put into groups of 8 (usually) and the groups are matched by age and ability. Junior coaching takes place on Saturdays for beginners and improvers and on Monday and Tuesday afternoons for intermediate and advanced players.

The benefits of playing the game from an early age are immense both from a physical and psychological aspect. Once the game is learnt and learnt correctly it is a skill that can be taken with them through life. Our coaching program focuses on introducing the game at an early age in a positive and technically sound manner.

The coaching programme covers every aspect of the game, primarily technical, tactical and physical. We will work on your child’s agility, balance, co-ordination and speed and build a sound foundation on which to build the complete game.

Our junior programme works with all levels from our squad players to our Tennis 10s juniors. At Killaloe/Ballina Tennis club we ensure that players aged 10 and under do not train or play competition with a regular yellow ball on a full court, but instead train and compete with a red, orange or green balls on the appropriate court. This will help players develop the most efficient technique and implement advanced tactics.
