The Winter League is back and louder than ever! This year’s theme is Battle of the Bands, with each section tuned to a different genre: Rock, Pop, Punk, and Metal. Expect some fierce musical battles in the weeks to come! Thanks again to Bowe Dental for their continued support of the Winter League.

No matches this week—Round 2 resumes on Sunday, 2 November. Use the break to tune up your game and maybe scout your next opponent’s playlist.
Perfect Starts
Five teams kicked off the season with a flawless 22-point performance:
Pop Section: Leo Duficey’s Wham!
Punk Section: Liam Breens’s Ramones and Maciej Kanik’s The Cure
Metal Section: Sinead Spain’s KISS and Graham Ryan’s Metallica
That’s a strong opening chord from these squads—let’s see who can keep the tempo going!
What to Expect in Round 2
Rock Section: Expect power chords and power plays. Boston might have “more than a feeling”. U2 is hoping they find what they’re looking for. Pearl Jam better stay “alive”, and Heart doesn’t want to end up “alone”.
Pop Section: Wham! Wants to wake you up before you go-go. *NSYNC are bringing it back with “no strings attached”. ABBA’s “dancing queen’s” better watch their backs. Watch to see if Bananarama have any “cruel summer” spoilers.
Punk Section: The Ramones are blitzing through like it’s 1976. The Cure are hoping, “boys don’t cry”. Green Day are still warming up, but if they wake up when November ends, watch out. Misfits? They’re just here to scream and score.
Metal Section: Metallica and KISS are shredding the scoreboard. If Iron Maiden don’t “run to the hills”, they might run into trouble. And beware of Black Sabbath—things could get heavy.
